Camden Film Quarter is coming to the capital. The new venture aims to create a hub dedicated to film, television and creativity. Construction is set to begin in 2027, and the first phase is expected to open in 2030.
Camden has featured in many films and television productions. Its streets have appeared in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Back to Black, Blitz and Paddington in Peru. Now, the borough is set to welcome an exciting new venture. The project is backed by real estate investment firm Yoo Capital, the team behind the transformation of Olympia in west London. The £1 billion development will create an entirely new neighbourhood in Kentish Town.
The development promises to be a major creative destination. Plans include state-of-the-art production facilities for film and television, educational partnerships with the National Film and Television School and the London Screen Academy, workshop spaces and studio tours. Plus, there will be 485 new homes, half of which will be affordable.
Simon Lear, Managing Director of Camden Film Quarter, said: “Alongside world-class creative industry facilities, the project will deliver 485 homes, including 243 affordable homes, significant new public open space, education facilities supporting more than 500 learners, new jobs and long-term investment into Kentish Town.”
