We’re not going to lie. Omah Lay’s I’m A Mess and Rema’s Calm Down have been on heavy rotation in the FACT offices since both tracks dropped last summer.
So we were very excited to hear that the two Afrobeats sensations will headline a concert at Coca-Cola Arena on Friday, 10 February. Dubbed Afroworld 2023, the show will bring together two of the most renowned names in African music.
Headlining the concert is the rising star Rema, whose energetic hits Calm Down, Dumebi and Time N Affection have taken the world by storm. Rema’s recent achievements have included an award for reaching one billion global streams and a collaboration with Selena Gomez. Rema describes his sound as Afrorave, a sub-genre of Afrobeats that draws influence from Arabian and Indian music.
Joining Rema on stage will be FACT favourite Omah Lay, whose smooth and soulful melodies, You and Bad Influence, have earned him worldwide recognition. In 2022 Omah Lay collaborated with Justin Bieber on the hit single Attention before releasing his debut album, Boy Alone. The Nigerian Superstar describes his music as Afrobeats with some R&B.
Tickets for Afroworld 2023 are priced at AED 175 (bronze), AED 230 (silver), AED 275 (gold) and AED 375 (golden circle standing).
The performance at Dubai’s home of live entertainment takes place two weeks after R&B songstress Ashanti takes to the Coca-Cola Arena stage with frequent collaborators Fat Joe and Ja Rule.
