Andrew Barth Feldman will play the Roman Emperor, Nero.


It’s exciting news for musical theatre fans. American actor Andrew Barth Feldman is set to lead the brand-new musical, Nero, which is coming to the Southwark Playhouse Elephant in London. Running from 2 November to 5 December, it sees the Dear Evan Hansen star in a new musical.

Andrew hails from New York, United States. As a child, he would act in musical theatre shows and starred in his school’s performance of Catch Me If You Can. In 2019, he starred in the musical, Dear Evan Hansen, which went onto receive critical and commercial success. The musical went onto win six Tony Awards, and launched him into stardom. Since then, he has made a name for himself on the screen and stage. In 2023, he starred opposite Jennifer Lawrence in the film, No Hard Feelings.

Now, he will take on the role of the Roman Emperor Nero. The musical brings one of history’s most fascinating and famous figures to life for a whole new generation. Created by the award-winning team behind Spring Awakening, it also includes music by Duncan Sheik and a book as well as lyrics by Steven Sater, 

Nero arrives in London with a top creative team: the production is directed by acclaimed theatre director Lindsay Posner, who is known for A View from the Bridge and Noises Off. The team also features choreographer James Cousins, musical supervisor and vocal arranger Phil Bateman, musical director Ben McQuigg, designer Georgia Lowe, lighting designer Robbie Butler, and sound designer Tony Gayle.
