Give your film-viewing experience an upgrade and head to the Sculpture Court at the Barbican for Outdoor Cinema. Running from 19 August to 30 August 2026 at 8.30pm, it’s a chance to enjoy films under the stars.

The programme is a joyful celebration of cinema in all its forms, bringing together cult favourites, international gems, concert documentaries, anime, coming-of-age classics and science fiction. From Spike Lee to David Byrne, audiences can expect a kaleidoscopic mix of styles and stories.

In short, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re revisiting old favourites, discovering new films or simply looking for the perfect summer evening out in the city. Guests can settle in at the Barbican Outdoor Cinema with street food, drinks and spectacular skyline views.

The full line-up includes Arrival on 19 August, Offside on 20 August, Atlantics on 21 August, Weathering With You on 22 August, Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster on 23 August, The Florida Project on 25 August, Pierrot le Fou on 26 August, Poetic Justice on 27 August, Beautiful Thing on 28 August, Desperately Seeking Susan on 29 August, and David Byrne’s American Utopia on 30 August, with all screenings beginning at 8.30pm.

Rebecca Fons, Head of Barbican Cinema, says: “August is our favourite month at the Barbican: we set up chairs, assemble the big screen, and settle in to enjoy our outdoor cinema line-up with fellow movie lovers under the London night sky. This year’s line-up is an eclectic mix that includes, but is not limited to, beloved coming-of-age stories, cult classics and one three-headed monster – all of which will look spectacular against the backdrop of the Barbican. Summer can’t come soon enough!”


How to get tickets

Tickets go on sale to Barbican members at 10am on Wednesday, 13 May 2026. General sale opens at 10am on Thursday, 14 May 2026. Standard tickets are £20, concessions are £18, Barbican members pay £16.50, and under-18s can attend for just £10.
