Palestinian creativity will take centre stage in London this summer with the arrival of Aswatna Showcase, an evening dedicated to music, art, storytelling and community. Taking place on Saturday, 22 August 2026 in the courtyard of Studio 12, the event will bring together artists, musicians, writers and independent vendors for a multidisciplinary celebration of Palestinian identity.

At the heart of the programme is an exhibition by acclaimed Palestinian artist Malak Mattar. Known for work that explores memory, displacement and everyday Palestinian life, Mattar will also join Aswatna founder Nour for an intimate conversation about her artistic practice. The discussion will explore the experiences and memories that have shaped her work, alongside the wider role that art can play in expressing Palestinian identity, resilience and creativity.

Music will form another major part of the evening, with four artists taking to the stage. Rawan Roshni is a Palestinian singer-songwriter, facilitator and public speaker whose work also includes the Voice Liberation programme. Her approach uses music and performance as spaces for expression and connection.

Joining her is Marwan Halabi, a Palestinian singer-songwriter whose sound draws on a wide range of musical traditions. His work brings together Middle Eastern maqams, Indian ragas, blues, alternative music and spiritual influences, creating a distinctive style that moves between cultures and genres.

The programme also includes Saifamee, a Palestinian-Jordanian underground hip-hop artist and rapper whose music is rooted in lived experience. Having started writing music from the age of ten, his tracks address subjects including social justice, spirituality, struggle and motivation.

Completing the musical lineup is Yousef Mattar, a Palestinian pianist, arranger and music producer from Gaza. A self-taught musician from childhood, Mattar continued creating music while growing up under military blockade. His work combines Arabic musical traditions with contemporary influences, often exploring ideas of resilience, memory and hope.

Beyond the performances and exhibition, Aswatna Showcase will extend across food, literature and independent creativity. Guests will be able to sample dishes from Palestinian food stalls, browse educational and fiction titles supplied by Maqam Books, and shop from a selection of independent vendors throughout the evening.
