The opening marks a new chapter for The Twenty Two, which has established itself as one of Mayfair’s most talked-about luxury hotels, restaurants and private members’ clubs. Now, the property is switching direction with a concept that places classic French cooking at the centre of the experience.
Cafe Twenty Two will occupy the space currently home to The Twenty Two restaurant, but this will be more than a simple menu change. The relaunch will include a complete interior makeover, with the new design described as a meeting point between traditional Mayfair elegance and Parisian style.
The culinary direction will be overseen by Guillaume Glipa, a familiar figure on London’s hospitality scene. His impressive CV includes roles at Chiltern Firehouse and Annabel’s, and he was also behind Louie London in Covent Garden. His arrival at The Twenty Two suggests the venue is aiming to retain its glamorous reputation while introducing a more distinctly French identity.
Food will focus on simple, classic French cooking rather than overly complicated creations. Full menu details have yet to be announced, but the concept points towards familiar French flavours served within the glamorous Grosvenor Square setting. With Glipa at the helm, Cafe Twenty Two will also have considerable hospitality experience guiding its new direction.
