Harrods is home to one of the most exciting selections of chocolate in the capital. It has welcomed exclusive pop-ups, including Fix Chocolatier, better known for its Dubai Chocolate. From 15 July, it is set to welcome a Khoury pop-up by chef Phil Khoury in the Chocolate Hall.
Phil was born in New South Wales, Australia. His parents fled Beirut, Lebanon, during the Lebanese Civil War. He often draws inspiration from his Middle Eastern heritage and is the creator of the viral Beirut Chocolate Bar, featuring orange blossom caramel, cashew praline and a baklava crunch. The bar was created to support charities in Lebanon and sold out repeatedly.
Phil is no stranger to Harrods. He previously worked as the store’s Head Pastry Chef and is now making a welcome return – this time with his own chocolate collection. For six years, he led the store’s pastry team before leaving to launch his own business. He said: “Harrods was home for so long. I always secretly hoped I’d find my way back one day.”
For his return to Harrods, Phil has curated a special selection from the Khoury City Series, celebrating flavours inspired by destinations around the world. The Beirut Bar returns alongside other bars paying homage to iconic cities. The Doha Bar features cardamom coffee and dates, the New York Bar is inspired by apple pie, the Paris Bar combines hazelnut praline and caramel, and the Oaxaca Bar showcases corn, cinnamon and cacao.
