Kismet offers a fresh take on Mediterranean food.
Bridget Jones remains one of London’s most beloved characters – no matter what her diary might suggest. Fans of the film may recognise the London location of the new Mediterranean restaurant, Kismet. Situated above The Globe Tavern in Borough Market, it occupies the building used as Bridget’s flat in the Bridget Jones film franchise.
Kismet in London will open on 16 July and run for one year at the location. The Globe Tavern was previously home to the Thai restaurant Khao Bird, which later opened a permanent location in Soho. Kismet has been created by Dom Handy, who has previously worked at Bistro Freddie and Crispin, and chef Keiran Mustafa, who has previously worked at Bibi. Inspired by the flavours of Cyprus and Türkiye, they aim to offer a fresh take on Eastern Mediterranean cuisine.

The menu includes mezes, ranging from Atom with buffalo milk yoghurt to Bulgur Köftesi, which features stuffed bulgur wheat dumplings. Dishes include Charcoal Grilled Kebabs, Kuzu Şiş with lamb leg, and Şeftali Kebabı, a Cypriot lamb and beef kebab wrapped in caul fat.
Keiran said: “Growing up in a Turkish-Cypriot family, food was always at the centre of gatherings. The meyhane has long been one of my favourite expressions of hospitality; generous, lively and built around sharing.”
Dom added: “I’m thrilled to be bringing Kismet to life with Keiran. Having worked together on a number of projects and having spent a significant amount of time together in both Istanbul and Northern Cyprus, we share a deep appreciation for the culture, hospitality and traditions that inspire Kismet.
“What excites me most is that we’re creating something genuinely distinctive – our own interpretation of the traditional Turkish meyhane, drawn from Keiran’s heritage but thoughtfully reimagined for London. It’s also particularly meaningful for me to be returning to Borough Market, where my journey in food began more than a decade ago. To launch a new restaurant here feels like a full-circle moment.”
