Tagine and Grill will showcase Moroccan cuisine at The Sun & 13 Cantons.
Pubs are not just places for pints and fish and chips. The Sun and 13 Cantons is ready to prove that point, thanks to its Tagine and Grill residency. Running from 10 June in Soho, London, fans of modern Moroccan cuisine are in for a treat.
Tagine and Grill will take over the kitchen at The Sun and 13 Cantons. This follows the end of Mamapen’s two-year residency. At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Yassir Chair, founder of Afuego Burger, which has built a firm following across London. Tagine and Grill is no stranger to pop-ups, having previously run a five-week residency at King and Co in Clapham.
Born and raised in Morocco, Yassir is now a London local. Through the collaboration between Tagine and Grill and The Sun and 13 Cantons, he hopes to shine a light on the country’s cuisine. Guests will be able to enjoy charcoal grilling, a sharing-style menu and vibrant flavours.
Dishes include Chargrilled Lamb Kofta with lemon and mint yoghurt, pickled red cabbage, coriander and chilli sauce; Chicken Thigh finished with ras el hanout dressing, harissa mayo and lime; Harissa Glazed Halloumi Kebab topped with pomegranate and coriander; King Prawn Tangier Bastila Cigars; and Roasted Almond and Honey Briouats.
As for The Sun and 13 Cantons, it has an amazing history. A pub has operated on the site since 1756. The Grade II-listed pub draws its inspiration from the Swiss watchmaking community and the 13 cantons.
