There are few London locations that make quite the same first impression as Park Lane. Hyde Park provides a sweep of leafy greenery on one side, while Mount Street slips into Mayfair on the other, placing some of the capital’s best restaurants, boutiques and galleries within walking distance. Grosvenor House Suites occupies this enviable corner, but rather than competing with its grand hotel neighbours, it offers something altogether more residential.
The history is woven into the address. Grosvenor House, the palatial London residence of the Grosvenor family and Dukes of Westminster, once stood here before being demolished in the 1920s. The subsequent Grosvenor House development was constructed between 1925 and 1930 by Wimperis, Simpson & Guthrie. Decades later, the serviced apartment component was transformed for a new generation of guests, with Woods Bagot overseeing its adaptive reuse and Anouska Hempel contributing the moody graphite interiors ahead of its 2012 completion.
Arrival immediately establishes the difference between this and a conventional luxury hotel. A ground-floor concierge provides a reassuring layer of security before guests ascend to reception. There is no cavernous lobby or constant procession of restaurant diners. Instead, check-in unfolds beside The Atrium, giving the property an immediate sense of privacy.
Suite Life
Grosvenor House Suites offers 129 luxurious abodes, ranging from studios and larger one-, two- and three-bedroom residences to four signature London Suites and four sky-high penthouses.
Our three-bedroom City Suite on the seventh floor demonstrates why the concept works so well for families and longer stays. The layout feels like an actual apartment rather than an oversized hotel room. A generous living room is anchored by an L-shaped cream sofa scattered with gold cushions, while warm timber flooring, contemporary art and a fireplace give the space character. Beyond lies a substantial dining table and sleek open-plan kitchen, fully equipped for those who would rather cook, entertain or simply avoid another restaurant meal after several days in the capital.
The bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom, continue the restrained palette. The master bedroom pairs crisp white linen and plush pillows with a dramatic stepped headboard in warm caramel tones, framed by oversized lamps and tall black-framed windows. Bathrooms are similarly composed, with monochrome finishes, deep soaking tubs and rainfall showers.
Then there are the views. The BT Tower, London Eye and The Shard rise beyond a patchwork of Mayfair rooftops and chimney pots. Looking across the old Mayfair brickwork produces an unexpectedly romantic vision of London, somewhere between contemporary skyline and Mary Poppins.
London references appear throughout the property without becoming kitsch. Black-and-white photographs of Big Ben, Trafalgar Square and the Gherkin line communal corridors, while architectural sketches of monuments and bridges decorate the suites.
More memorable is the personalisation. Returning from dinner to hot chocolate and board games makes for a genuinely thoughtful family touch, while a gift of Barnaby chocolate bars – a confectionery item I regularly bring back to Dubai for friends and colleagues – feels particularly well researched. For those who want the residential appeal taken further, personal shoppers, chefs and butlers can be arranged upon request.
Dining
The Atrium forms the social heart of Grosvenor House Suites. Positioned beneath a soaring glazed roof and softened by pink cherry blossom trees, the light-filled courtyard functions as a restaurant, meeting place and communal living room. It is reserved purely for residents and their guests and operates from breakfast through to evening.
Breakfast is particularly pleasant. D’Angelo and William DeVaughn provide a soulful soundtrack as tables fill with baskets of French pastries, eggs Benedict, fluffy pancakes, porridge and bowls of fruit. Later in the day, residents can return for afternoon tea, drinks or dinner, while the same menu can be served privately in-suite.
A new addition is Ember Cigar Lounge, which opened in August 2026 and is the only part of Grosvenor House Suites open to the public. Warm woods, softly illuminated humidors stacked with cigars ranging from Cuba to the New World, and high-end spirits create a more intimate proposition. There’s even a quaint terrace overlooking Hyde Park.
Rest and Recreation
Facilities are where Grosvenor House Suites makes its priorities clear. There is a gym, but no sprawling spa or swimming pool. Fitness on Demand classes are available in the Fitness Suite, yoga mats are available for in-room practice, and personal trainers and wellness practitioners can be arranged. These in-suite massages and beauty treatments offer an alternative to a dedicated spa and provide a distinct sense of privacy.
Yet Hyde Park is effectively the property’s back garden. It makes morning walks and runs effortless. Bespoke picnics can be arranged through the property, and during the cooler months, the lights of Winter Wonderland beckon. Beyond the park, Selfridges, Bond Street and Mayfair are within easy reach, alongside restaurants including the FACT award-winning Amazónico, GAIA, MiMi Mei Fair and Scott’s, and perennial favourites such as Hakkasan, Nammos and Sexy Fish.
The Verdict
Grosvenor House Suites succeeds because it understands that luxury does not always require a lobby bar, swimming pool and an endless restaurant repertoire. Its strengths are space, security, and superb service delivered with warmth and discretion. The property’s location on the most expensive square on the Monopoly board offers major kerbside appeal, attracting a loyal clientele of Middle Eastern travellers, a trend amplified by the fact that many of the staff are fluent in Arabic.
The kitchens, laundry facilities and generous living rooms make obvious sense for long-stay living, but this need not be exclusively an extended-stay proposition, as shorter stays are sometimes possible if you contact the hotel directly
For families, groups or travellers who already know London well, Grosvenor House Suites offers something increasingly valuable: the ability to live in the city rather than merely check into it. With Hyde Park across the road and London unfolding beyond the windows, that is quite a compelling proposition.
