Middle-earth is heading back to the big screen, but this time with a live soundtrack. The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring In Concert is embarking on a 25th anniversary tour across the UK and Ireland, including a major date at The O2 in London.

Taking place on Sunday, 29 November 2026, the London stop will offer both matinee and evening performances, giving Tolkien fans another chance to experience Peter Jackson’s fantasy epic on a suitably grand scale.

Released in 2001, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring introduced cinema audiences to the Shire, Rivendell and Middle-earth as Frodo Baggins began his journey to destroy the One Ring. The first instalment in Jackson’s acclaimed film trilogy became a cultural phenomenon, earning 13 Academy Award nominations and winning four.

For the anniversary concerts, the complete film will be screened while Howard Shore’s original score is performed live. The London performances will feature the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra alongside the Crouch End Festival Chorus and Trinity Boys’ Choir, all conducted by Maestro Ludwig Wicki.

Shore’s music has become inseparable from the world of The Lord of the Rings. From the pastoral melodies associated with the Shire to the ominous themes surrounding Mordor and the Ring itself, the score helped establish the emotional scale of Jackson’s adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s novels. The Canadian composer received both Academy Award and Grammy recognition for his work on the film, with the soundtrack going on to become one of modern cinema’s most recognisable scores.

London is not the only city getting the Middle-earth treatment. The tour begins at Dublin’s 3Arena on 11 October 2026 before travelling to The O2 in London on 29 November 2026. It then heads to Glasgow’s OVO Hydro on 6 December 2026, Manchester’s Co-op Live on 12 December 2026 and Birmingham’s bp pulse LIVE on 19 December 2026. Matinee and evening performances are scheduled across the UK dates.
