The legendary club has welcomed jazz greats.

The sound of New York is landing in the capital. St Martins Lane Hotel is set to welcome Greenwich Village’s iconic jazz club, Blue Note to London. Opening on 23 September 2026, the new bar will be located in the basement of the hip hotel in Covent Garden.

In 1981, Blue Note first opened and made a name for itself in New York. The venue boasts a rich history and has welcomed emerging and established artists from around the world. Over the years, it has welcomed the genre’s famous faces, including Dizzy Gillespie, John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder.

Today, it has venues around the world, including Beijing, Los Angeles, Milan and New York. The venues have hosted everyone from Andre 3000 to Common. Now, it’s finally opening in London and on what would have been the 100th birthday of pioneering saxophonist John Coltrane.

The newly announced programme includes performances and residencies from artists including neo-soul singer Erykah Badu, pianist and songwriter Jamie Cullum, saxophonist and composer Nubya Garcia, drummer Yussef Dayes, afrobeats collective Kokoroko, rapper Hak Baker and more. The club’s opening performance will be by five-time Grammy-winning artist Robert Glasper on 23 and 24 September 2026.

Steven Bensusan, President of Blue Note Entertainment Group, explained: “We’re excited to be coming to London and grateful to Westminster Council for recognising what Blue Note can bring to the city’s nightlife. As we prepare to open in early 2026, we’re looking forward to bringing world-class jazz and a deep cultural legacy to one of the greatest music cities in the world.
