ALTA is set to broaden its offering with the launch of Bar ALTA. Located in Soho, London, the ground-floor concept draws inspiration from the pintxos culture of Northern Spain. Opening in June, here’s what to expect.
Bar ALTA aims to deliver a more relaxed dining and drinking experience. If you are after a more formal experience, then head upstairs to the restaurant’s existing venue, ALTA. Drawing from the lively bar culture of Spain’s Basque Country, the new concept will focus on the social connection between food and drink, and encourage guests to enjoy small bites alongside carefully crafted beverages.
The concept has been developed by head chef Robbie Jameson, who joined ALTA after working at the acclaimed live-fire and FACT Dining Award London winning restaurant, HUMO. His experience with fire-led cooking and his interest in Spanish culinary traditions have helped shape the new direction for the venue. Guests can also expect a selection of wines by the glass, alongside rotating vermouths and sherries. Plus, wine and craft cider offerings will be shared between Bar ALTA and the restaurant upstairs.
Artem Login, founder of MAD Restaurants, said: “With Bar ALTA, we wanted to introduce another way to enjoy the restaurant – something more relaxed and spontaneous and to complement the ALTA people know and love, which will continue to be offered upstairs.
Whether it’s a couple of small bites and a vermouth on the terrace, or a table full of dishes shared with friends, Bar ALTA is designed to capture the energy and conviviality of the bars you’ll find across the Basque Country. Summer is the ideal time to introduce this new offering to Soho and Kingly Court.”
