The Admiral’s Mess brings a bespoke concept to the historic Admiralty Arch in London.
London’s bar scene is showing no signs of slowing down, and one of the capital’s most iconic landmarks is about to welcome a new drinking destination. The Admiral’s Mess, a brand-new concept from Inception Group, is set to open inside the much-anticipated Waldorf Astoria London – Admiralty Arch.
The Admiral’s Mess will be Inception Group’s first hotel bar since the company launched in 2009. The standalone concept has been created specifically for the historic setting, with the group bringing its signature immersive, story-led approach to the new venue.
Spanning 2,400 square feet, the bar will have space for 60 seated guests, giving it a more intimate feel than some of London’s hotel drinking destinations. The name nods to Admiralty Arch’s naval history, with a “mess” traditionally referring to a dining and social space for military officers. The building was once home to Admiralty offices and the residence of the First Sea Lord.
The building itself is being transformed into a 114-room Waldorf Astoria hotel, with its historic architecture being carefully incorporated into the property. Alongside the rooms and suites, the hotel will feature a private spa, destination restaurants, bars and a massive ballroom.
The Admiral’s Mess will be joined by an impressive line-up of food and drink destinations. Clare Smyth will bring her own offering via Coreus, while Daniel Boulud is bringing Cafe Boulud back to London. The hotel will also feature Whiskey & Seaweed and a signature cocktail bar.
With its historic setting, intimate scale and bespoke concept, The Admiral’s Mess looks set to become one of the more intriguing new additions to London’s luxury hotel bar scene when Waldorf Astoria London opens in fall this year.
