The Albatross opens in the City of London on 7 September 2026.

London’s pub scene is getting a new arrival, and this one is bringing affordable pints to the heart of the City. The Albatross will open on 7 September 2026, taking over the former Browns site on Old Jewry, combining British pub traditions, seafood and a drinks list that ventures beyond the usual suspects.
The opening comes from The Wild Group, led by George Bukhov-Weinstein and Ilya Demichev. The hospitality group already operates Goodman, Beast, Pinna and Wild Izakaya, with the latter sitting directly opposite the new pub.
Drinks are a major part of the draw. Shane McHugh, Head of Beverage across the Goodman restaurants, has curated the drinks list and partnered with East London’s Pillars Brewery. Around 15 beers will be available on tap, with the selection designed to move away from the standard draught line-up found across many London pubs. Prices are also being kept accessible, with a pint of Pilsner or Guinness costing £6.
The kitchen will place seafood front and centre. Head Chef Chris Piorkowski is overseeing a British-led menu featuring lobster thermidor, seafood bisque and oyster platters. Diners will also find native lobster sourced from England’s south coast alongside Norwegian king crab, with live seafood displayed in tanks at the venue.
Spread across two floors, The Albatross in the City of London will have room for around 400 guests, making it a sizeable addition to the City’s drinking and dining scene. A private dining room will also be available for groups and events.
Crispin Sugden, Head of Operations, said: “I bloody love pubs. When we asked ourselves what was missing in the City Pub scene, it kept coming back to the same thing – somewhere British-led, with proper food, a different selection of draft that wasn’t found on every font, great cocktails, wine and a bit of fun.”
