Neom Beach Games 2022 brings sport to Saudi’s gigaproject

The inaugural sports tournament kicks off from 19 October. 

Life’s a beach at Neom. Saudi Arabia’s gigaproject has announced that it will host Neom Beach Games 2022 from 19 October until 9 December. The first-ever tournament welcomes athletes from more than 25 countries, as they take part in sporting challenges. 

Neom Beach Games 2022 includes five exciting sporting events, which showcase the beauty of the gigaproject. Highlights include a beach soccer tournament with 12 worldwide teams, and desert mountain bike racing with 220 male and female riders. 

The tournament kicks off with kitesurfing from 19 to 23 October, a triathlon on 29 October, 3×3 basketball from 4 to 5 November, beach soccer from 9 to 12 November, and concludes with mountain biking from 6 to 9 December.

Neom is part of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince’s Saudi Vision 2030. Neom aims to redefine urban living. Plans for The Line in Neom were recently announced, which includes a 170km-long residential complex with zero cars, zero roads and zero carbon emissions. When completed, the area will be home to million residents across 34 square kilometres.
