Celebrate World Sake Day

Team FACT are huge fans of Japanese restaurant Netsu at Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai. So we were ecstatic to discover that the popular restaurant will be celebrating World Sake Day with a crafted tasting menu and sake pairing. The collaboration with famed Sake House Dassai invites diners to enjoy a selection of Dassai sakes handpicked by Netsu’s Chief Sommelier and paired with a four-course menu featuring seabass tiradito, signature maki rolls, wagyu ribeye and sake-infused mango kakigori. Oberoi meets Oberoi at Emirates Palace

Martabaan at Emirates Palace will host a culinary collaboration with Indian master chef Vijay Sahi and Martabaan’s chef Hemant Oberoi. The dining experience features a refreshing take on classic recipes such as Bater Mussalam (quails filled with spiced chicken mince), Blueberry Dahi Bhalle Ki Chaat (lentil fritters dunked in yoghurt and blueberry chutney) and Masala Chai Crème Brulee. The specially curated menu includes an a la carte lunch and a signature dinner menu. Available from 30 September to 2 October. AED 400 per person (five courses).

Monday 3 October

Dine with acclaimed Spanish chef Diego Gallegos

Arriving in Dubai from Málaga in Spain, Chef Diego Gallegos is collaborating with Spanish restaurant Salero Tapas & Bodega at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates this month. Known as “The Chef of Caviar”, Diego is lauded for his unique approach to gastronomy, offering Andalusian sturgeon as a key ingredient in his cuisine. Expect tapas and shared paellas featuring freshwater delicacies. Indulge in sweet treats like churros with spiced chocolate to complete the decadent meal. Available 3 to 8 October, from 12pm to 1am. Check out a culinary collab

Trèsind Studio has announced its latest culinary collaboration, and this time it’s with twin brothers Mathias and Thomas Suhring from Bangkok’s acclaimed restaurant Sühring. Trèsind Studio is one of Dubai’s most critically acclaimed restaurants, as it was recently awarded one MICHELIN Star, is ranked at number four in the MENA region for 50 Best Restaurants, and was named Restaurant of the Year at the FACT Dining Awards Dubai for the past three years running. So, to up the ante at this fine dining restaurant, it is continuing its collaborations with top-notch chefs. Available on 4 and 5 October, with sittings at 6pm and 9pm. AED 995 per person.

Wednesday 5 October 

Sing along to The Script

Irish rock band, The Script have added a stop in Dubai to their Greatest Hits World Tour. Lead vocalist and keyboardist Danny O’Donoghue, guitarist Mark Sheehan, and drummer Glen Power will take to the stage at Bla Bla in JBR. Playing inside The Tent to a limited capacity audience will give fans an up-close and personal experience as they sing along to some of the band’s greatest hits, including Superheroes, Hall of Fame, No Good in Goodbye and The Man Who Can’t be Moved.

Thursday 6 October

Watch the Atlanta Hawks take on the Milwaukee Bucks

The Atlanta Hawks take on defending NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks at Etihad Arena for the very first NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2022. The Hawks currently feature two-time NBA All-Star Trae Young, 2020-21 NBA rebounding leader Clint Capela, and 2018 NBA All-Rookie Second Team members John Collins and Bogdan Bogdanović. The Bucks, meanwhile, feature two-time Kia NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, three-time NBA All-Star Khris Middleton, and four-time NBA All-Defensive Team member Jrue Holiday. The two teams met in the 2021 Eastern Conference Finals, with the Bucks going on to win their first NBA championship in 50 years.

Friday 7 October

Head to the world’s tallest five-star hotel for a culinary collab

Greg Malouf will join Chef Alok in the Rang Mahal kitchen for two nights this month. Adding his contemporary flair to Rang Mahal’s signature dishes, Malouf has curated a set six-course menu that playfully celebrates both Indian and Middle Eastern flavours – pani puri will meet hummus while falafel will be doused in raita, marrying the best of street food to begin the evening. The main event will see a take on Surf and Turf, fusing Malouf’s Middle Eastern culture with the aromatics of India. Naturally, the evening will end on a sweet note, with Chef Malouf’s take on beloved kulfi – cardamom, saffron, honey, mango-caramel salsa, and pistachio will all make an appearance. Available on 7 and 8 October, from 6pm to midnight. The six-course menu is priced at AED 395 per person.

Tuck into a Surf & Turf brunch 

The elegant Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah is back for a new season with its family-friendly brunch at Mezzerie. The surf and turf-themed buffet pairs delights from the land and sea, such as charcoal-grilled tomahawk, beef tenderloin, duck, and lamb chops, along with live lobster, tiger prawns, salmon, sea bass and kingfish fillet. Diners can also indulge in a selection of poached seafood on ice, including fine de claire oysters, king crab, lobster claws, Hokkaido scallops and more. To complete the experience, guests can sample unique concoctions from a variety of beverage counters whilst live music keeps the vibe flowing. Saturdays, from 1pm to 4pm. Visit Expo City Dubai

If you’ve been missing Expo Dubai 2020, you’ll be thrilled to hear that Expo City Dubai is now open, which means that some of the much-loved pavilions are back. The first areas to reopen include Alif The Mobility Pavilion, which explores how mobility transforms our lives, Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion, which shares environmentally-friendly options for the future, and Garden in the Sky with 360-degree views. Elsewhere, the Opportunity Pavilion has been transformed into the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum, which tells the story of this monumental event that took place six months ago.

Dine at a Drake-backed chicken joint

Dave’s Hot Chicken may be backed by investors such as Drake and Samuel L. Jackson, but this is an eatery where the fried chicken speaks for itself. After months of rumours, the Los Angeles export has made its debut in Dubai, welcoming diners at The Walk with its signature hot chicken tenders and sliders, along with sides like crispy fries, creamy mac and cheese, and housemade kale slaw. Offered at seven different spice levels ranging from ‘No Spice’ to ‘Reaper’ (which requires a signed waiver for those who dare), each piece of juicy, hand-breaded chicken is spiced to order.

Tune in to the FACT Spa & Wellness Awards UAE 2022

Now in its fourth year, the winners of the annual FACT Spa & Wellness Awards are due to be revealed during a glamourous ceremony inside The Amazing Room at V Hotel Dubai, Curio Collection by Hilton on the evening of Tuesday, 11 October. 56 awards will be given out across 29 categories, covering over 150 nominees at the exclusive invite-only event to honour spas, wellness retreats, fitness centres, beach clubs, beauty salons and barbershops.

Experience an authentic taste of Italy 

Now open in the heart of Saadiyat Island, Antonia brings an authentic Italian dining experience from the streets of Rome to the Arabian Gulf. Hailing from Rome, Antonia’s gourmet pizza slices are baked in rectangular trays, loaded with delicious toppings, displayed on the counter and sold by the square, half-tray or full-tray. The concept, driven by Chef and Restaurant Owner, Simone Federici has recently introduced a new menu featuring tartare di tonno, gamberi grigliati and a pancette e patate pizza.

Dine underwater with two acclaimed chefs

You’ll have MICHELIN Stars in your eyes at Ossiano’s one-off dining experience. The restaurant will be serving food from two MICHELIN recognised restaurants: Ossianio’s own Gregoire Berger, and Brazilian restaurant D.O.M’s Alex Atala. The tasting menu sounds like an adventure – labelled Euphoria of a New Departure, it focuses on seasonal produce from the chefs’ home countries of Brazil and France. The ocean-inspired dishes include sea urchins with sour milk and XO, pão de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread), and toothfish with tucupi (a wild root found in the Amazon) and tapioca. Partake in a Peaky Blinders evening brunch 

Enter the smokey underworld of the 1920s, the Peaky Blinders Evening Brunch at Distillery. Experience the exciting world of your favourite characters from the acclaimed television show whilst sipping on prohibition-era cocktails. Make a splash 

With 247 inflatable obstacles and slides, Aqua Park Marsana is one of the largest inflatable waterparks in the UAE. The new attraction on Abu Dhabi’s Hudayriyat Island measures 130 metres in length and 33 metres wide. Visitors of the island can also enjoy multiple leisure outlets offering cycling tracks, skateparks, rope parks, indoor and outdoor basketball, tennis and Padel courts and football fields. Beach lovers can also book manual paddle boats, stand-up paddle boards, and kayaks for use during their visit. Open daily, from 9am to sunset.

Visit a fun new sports bar

Located at the always popular Pier 7, Bedrock is a new sports bar that’s here to redefine the face of sports bars in Dubai. Bedrock features 20 TV screens, the latest technology in darts, and the region’s best indoor golf simulator for the ultimate competitive socialising. The X-Golf simulator in ‘The Bunker’ takes centre stage. Check out a new restaurant on the Palm

Peaches and Cream in Dubai draws its inspiration from 1980s Miami. As most beach clubs in Dubai feel like Mykonos-abroad, it’s refreshing to see a venue present something a little bit different. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu is packed with Mediterranean classics, spanning fresh seafood, meats, paellas, and pizzas made fresh from the wood-fired oven. The drinks menu includes juices, wine and cocktails – including its very own Peaches and Cream beverage. Party with Jason Derulo

The line-up of R&B megastars performing at Coca-Cola-Arena continues to expand, this time with news that Jason Derulo will return to Dubai, courtesy of Full Circle. Set to perform on Friday, 28 October, the award-winning singer/songwriter drew a huge crowd at Expo 2020 earlier this year. Now at work on his highly anticipated fifth album – and full-length debut for Atlantic Records – Derulo recently delivered a series of smash singles while operating as an independent artist. Those tracks include “Lifestyle” featuring Adam Levine, and the double-platinum “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat) “, with its official BTS remix reaching the top slot on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Visit the BTS pop-up shop

Brace yourself, K-poppers. The first-ever BTS Pop-up: Space of BTS is now open at Dubai’s BurJuman Mall. BTS Pop-up: Space of BTS will be located on level one of BurJuman Mall. Fans will find all things BTS inside, as the shop boasts a mind-boggling 400 different types of products. Not only will there be exclusive products released every two weeks, but a swoon-worthy fan experience. Discover why everyone is talking about this new juice bar
