Discover a secret speakeasy

The secret is out – there’s a new speakeasy spot in Dubai. Located in DIFC, Moonshine is hidden behind a fridge door in Wise Guys sandwich shop. The shop has a slogan on the counter window, which gives the game away and states: “Not just a sandwich shop”. Moonshine in Dubai’s menu includes a curated cocktail list and bites. The drinks menu combines the disco era with a modern touch, and Chef Riad has created the food menu.

Swim in the sky at Cloud 22

Once exclusively accessible for the lucky guests of Atlantis The Royal, Cloud 22 is now welcoming external guests to discover everything that makes it so decadent. Winner in the Best Swimming Pool category at the FACT Spa & Wellness Awards UAE 2023, this stylish sky pool is famed for its sweeping views over Palm Jumeirah, the city skyline, and the Arabian Gulf. Sing along with Mariah Carey at Saadiyat Nights

Abu Dhabi is hitting the high notes. Saadiyat Nights has announced that the singing sensation Mariah Carey will be heading to Abu Dhabi. The concert takes place on 6 January 2024, and tickets are available now. Mariah hails from New York, United States. She has a rags-to-riches success story and shot to fame after handing a demo tape to Columbia Records’ music executive, Tommy Mottola. He listened to the tape on his ride home and immediately turned back around to meet the singer. In 1990, she released her first album Mariah Carey, which went to number one in the US album charts. Over Mariah’s career, she has sold more than 220 million records. She has an endless list of hit singles, which include Always Be My Baby, Emotions, Fantasy and Hero.

Laugh out loud with Omid Djalili

Get ready to laugh out loud. British comedian Omid Djalili has announced that he is coming to Dubai. His show Namaste takes place on 7 January, and it will be held at the World Trade Center. It looks set to be a fun-filled night. Omid is of Iranian descent, and was born in Chelsea, London. Despite failing his exams at school, he managed to secure a place at university to study theatre. In 1995, he started his comedy career at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. His early shows include Short, Fat Kebab Shop Owner’s Son, and The Arab and The Jew. He is famous for his self-deprecating humour, which covers identity politics and observational jokes.

Dubai’s culinary scene has received a dash of dolce vita with the arrival of Cipriani Dolci on Jumeirah’s Al Wasl Road. Spend the day at BLU Oasis

BLU Dubai is famous for its celebrity shows. Now, it has expanded from clubs to hotels with the opening of BLU Oasis in the heart of Dubai’s desert. Taking over the space that was once occupied by Qasr Al Sultan, BLU Oasis includes a large outdoor club, a range of restaurants and a swimming pool overlooking the desert. Visitors can choose from beds in and by the pool or cabanas with plunge pools.

Experience Mike Oldfield’s Tubular Bells

A tribute concert will be held at Dubai Opera to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the iconic masterpiece, Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield. This concert will feature a full band, conducting and arrangements by Oldfield’s long-term collaborator, Robin Smith. This work gained worldwide acclaim when the opening theme was used in the soundtrack of the horror film The Exorcist and went on to become the highest-selling instrumental album of all time.

See Michael McIntyre live in Dubai

We’ve got some news that will put a smile on your face. The British comedian Michael McIntyre has announced that he is coming to the UAE with his Macnificent World Tour. Michael hails from London, England and is best known for his British wit, conservative style and floppy hair. In 2009, he performed for approximately 500,000 people in a record-breaking six nights at Wembley Arena and four at The O2 Arena in London, UK. In 2012, he became one of the world’s biggest-selling comedians. The Macnificent tour is visiting countries around the world and includes dates in Australia, Denmark, New Zealand and Singapore. Judging by clips from the tour, it includes jokes on everything from Brexit to the cost-of-living crisis.

Experience a KPOP OVERDOSE

The K-Pop stars ChanyeolChen and Xiumin will headlinKPOP OVERDOSE at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena. ChanyeolChen and Xiumin are part of the South Korean boyband EXO. The members will put on a spectacular show, which includes singing and dancing. In 2012, the group launched with twelve members, and over the years, the line-up has changed. KPOP OVERDOSE’s opening acts include DJ Bliss and DJ Raiden. DJ Bliss has also been the host of Dubai One’s That’s Entertainment, and appeared on the Netflix reality TV show, Dubai Bling.

Grab a slice

After its success at Sole DXB 2023, Za Za Slice Bar has now become a standalone spot in Jumeirah Garden City. The creative geniuses behind Rascals Deli are the masterminds behind this new venue that is elevating the typical Dubai pizza joint. What makes this hip spot stand out is its New York-style artisanal pizza served by the slice. The menu is a tantalising journey, featuring Tricolore, House Margherita, The Pepp, and Trafuto.

Visit the Salt Camp pop-up at Museum of The Future 

Salt Camp has combined culture and cuisine at its latest pop-up. Located in Museum of the Future, the Dubai-born brand has created a concept that is inspired by Japan. During the summer of 2023, Salt Camp travelled to Japan and met with Chef Named Shima. The new pop-up is a tribute to him and the Japanese landscape. The entrance includes a door with the sign “welcome”, which leads to a lime tunnel with flags in English and Japanese. The space includes bonsai trees, outdoor tables with chairs, and walls decorated with Japanese calligraphy. Salt Camp is famous for its signature burgers, shakes and desserts, and the latest offering includes Japanese-inspired dishes and entertainment.

Catch a flick at the new Cinema Akil 

The region’s only independent arthouse cinema has launched a seasonal outpost at 25hours Hotel Dubai One Central. Spanning 1,867 square feet, Cinema Akil in 25hours is divided into three distinct sections: the box office, the open cinema theatre, and a multipurpose retail and pop-up space. Beyond screening films, the new venue promises an electric array of entertainment options, including music events, talks and pop-up experiences. The cinema is currently hosting screenings four times a week (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays), with films typically commencing between 7:30pm and 8pm.

Ebraheem Al Samadi and Danya Mohammed from the show are making waves with the grand opening of The Besties Cafe. Quoz Arts Fest at Alserkal Avenue has become a staple in the region’s cultural calendar. The musical lineup includes the Dubai-based hip-hop maestro, Big Hass, and the Sudanese fusion duo, MarSimba.
