The installations will be found across the capital.
Abu Dhabi is about to be illuminated with a lavish light display. The Manar Light Festival, also known as Manar 2.0, is coming to Abu Dhabi and will take place this November. If you’re looking for a fun-filled family day out, here’s what you need to know.
The Manar Light Festival is part of the Public Art Abu Dhabi programme by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi. This year’s theme explores the creative connection between light and nature. The experience will engage your senses with sights and sounds, and will feature state-of-the-art installations. The full programme and dates have not yet been announced, but previous editions have been a sight to behold.

In Arabic, manar means “lighthouse”. The name is fitting for the installations, which can be found across Abu Dhabi. The installations transform different spots across the city. The sites include the Corniche, Eastern Mangroves, Jubail, Fahid Island and Saadiyat. The artworks range from light sculptures and projections to interactive installations and performances.
The Manar Light Festival will bring together more than 35 artworks by both international and local artists. Notable names include Emirati artist Ahmed Al Areef Al Dhaheri; German artist Carsten Höller; Emirati artist and poet Nujoom Alghanem; British visual artist Shezad Dawood; and the art collective teamLab.

teamLab has already made a name for itself in the Middle East, offering a one-of-a-kind, multisensory art experience. It has created installations from Abu Dhabi to Jeddah.
