Abu Dhabi, the stars are coming out. World Tennis League has announced that the R&B superstars Akon and Ne-Yo will join the line-up at Etihad Arena. Taking place on 22 December, here’s what we know about the event.
The artists will headline a special R&B evening concert, which closes out a day of play from some of the world’s top tennis talent. The concerts also include 50 Cent, UB40, The Original Wailers and Trojan Sound System.
Akon hails from Missouri, United States. He is a singer, songwriter and producer. He is famous for his blend of R&B, hip-hop and pop music. His hit songs include I Wanna Love You, Lonely, Right Now (Na Na Na), and Smack That. Over his career, he has won American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards and World Music Awards.
Ne-Yo, real name Shaffer Cimere Smith, hails from Arkansas, United States. He is of African-American and Chinese descent. His stage name was coined by the producer Big D Evans, and is a nod to The Matrix’s character Neo. He shot to fame with his hit songs Because of You, Closer, Let Me Love You and So Sick, and won three Grammy Awards. Expect him to bring his soulful voice, signature moves and new numbers to the event.

With a list of chart-topping singles, including their blockbuster hit ‘Play Hard’ in collaboration with David Guetta, we are delighted to have Akon and Ne-Yo performing at this year’s edition of the World Tennis League – it promises to be an unforgettable night of entertainment for our fans.”
