Arab Cinema Week returns to Cinema Akil

The ten-day event will screen 11 feature films and four shorts.

Few venues have altered the cultural landscape of Dubai like Cinema Akil – not only is it the first arthouse cinema in the region, but it has also been instrumental in building awareness around independent filmmaking both in the UAE and the Middle East as a whole. Now, the independent cinema is gearing up to host its Arab Cinema Week from 6 to 15 October, bringing with it both stories and talent from the region.

Curated by Rabih El-Khoury, Arab Cinema Week 2 will open with Egyptian director Ahmad Abdalla’s latest masterpiece, 19B. The film promises to transport you to a time when life was simpler, but perhaps not easier, in a once-pristine neighbourhood during the 1960s.
