The British singer’s My Songs concert is scheduled for 27 January, 2023.
Abu Dhabi, this one’s for you. The legendary British singer, Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner, is coming to the UAE capital – aka Sting. The hitmaker is bringing his show My Songs to Etihad Arena on 27 January, 2023, and it promises to be a night to remember. So, if you want to see Sting in Abu Dhabi, here’s what you need to know.
My Songs tickets go on sale on Friday, 23 September from 12pm on the Ticketmaster and Etihad Arena websites. The show will feature songs from his career, which spans five decades and includes Fields of Gold, Shape of my Heart, Roxanne, Englishman In New York, Every Breath You Take and Message in a Bottle. During the show, Sting will be accompanied by his rock band and joined by special guest Joe Sumner (Sting’s son). Music clearly runs in the family, as Joe is also the singer and bassist of his own rock group, Fiction Plane.
This isn’t Sting’s first concert in the UAE, as he performed in Abu Dhabi’s du Arena in 2013. Sting has won an impressive 17 Grammy Awards with The Police and as a solo artist, which included Song of the Year for Every Breath You Take. Plus, he has won three Brit Awards, which include Best British Male Artist and Outstanding Contribution, and has been nominated four times for the Academy Awards for Best Original Song.
Sting hails from North Tyneside, England, and has had less rock n roll professions such as a labourer, bus conductor and tax collector. When the singer first started performing, he had a habit of wearing black and yellow striped jumpers, which earnt him his nickname.
My Songs comes to the UAE following six sold-out nights at the London Palladium. If you’re keen to get your hands on tickets to see Sting in Abu Dhabi, join Sting’s Fan Club for exclusive pre-sale tickets on www.sting.com. Tickets start from AED 395.
