A culinary master series is headed to the capital

The first pop-up at Shangri-La Hotel will feature a Michelin-starred chef.

If you live in the capital, now is when you get ready, get set and mark your calendars – Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat Al Beri has announced details about its Culinary Master Series, which kicks off with an unmissable dining experience by Michelin-starred chef, Baptiste Renouard. Spanning four nights, the first pop-up will take place from 8 to 11 December at the award-winning French restaurant, Bord Eau.

Both hotel guests and Abu Dhabi residents can look forward to an exciting culinary experience highlighting the young (read: he’s only 30) chef’s talent through an exclusive five-course set menu featuring his signature dishes. Supervised by the greatest chefs from an early age – Joël Robuchon and Jean-François Piège included – chef Renouard was trained at the prestigious FERRANDI Paris. He has been working in his own restaurant, Ochre, in Rueil-Malmaison since 2019. Presenting unexpected flavours and expertly crafted dishes, the chef is known for his classic but assertive approach to French cuisine, so it’s no surprise that Ochre was awarded a Michelin star earlier this year.

The five-course menu at Shangri-La Hotel will begin with a delectable amuse-bouche, followed by a tarte Tatin with turnips and puffed buckwheat. The main course will include snacked scallops with butternut and fresh black truffles, as well as Australian beef tenderloin. As for dessert? The chef’s signature dish featuring his childhood memories and followed up with fruit mousse tartlets and the popular Paris-Brest.
The experience is priced at AED 388 per person with soft beverages and AED 576 with wine pairing.

But there’s more – chef Renouard will also host daily cooking classes in Bord Eau’s kitchen from 1pm to 3pm at AED 158 per person, an offering limited to a maximum of five participants. This season’s Culinary Master Series will take place from December 2021 until Ramadan 2022, bringing both celebrity chefs and Michelin-starred dining experiences from around the world to the lucky diners of Abu Dhabi.
