It’s True – Din Tai Fung Abu Dhabi is now open

The globally beloved Taiwanese restaurant can be found at The Galleria, Al Maryah Island.

For every Abu Dhabi resident who has gotten into their car and refuelled their tank in anticipation of the sesame noodles, egg fried rice, and signature xiao long bao at Din Tai Fung, there’s nothing but good news here. The Taiwanese restaurant, which has been awarded a Michelin star in Hong Kong, has opened its first Abu Dhabi outpost at The Galleria Al Maryah Island. The restaurant currently operates four branches in Dubai: Al Ghurair Centre, Mall of the Emirates, Nakheel Mall and The Dubai Mall.

For the uninitiated, Din Tai Fung was founded in Taiwan in 1972 and, today, boasts a presence in Australia, Malaysia, the UK, the US and beyond, resulting in over 150 branches worldwide. It has also set the international standard for xiao long bao, or soup dumplings. Each dumpling is masterfully rolled out, filled and folded – with exactly 18 folds, no less – giving diners a peek into this renowned culinary process, courtesy of the open kitchen.

Guests at the Abu Dhabi location can also look forward to everything from Sautéed String Beans with Minced Chicken and Spicy Cucumber to Juicy Lamb Bun and Braised Beef Noodle Soup – all of which come highly recommended. Vegetarians, meanwhile, can opt for dishes like Steamed Mushroom & Vegetable Dumplings, Taro Bun, and Dan Dan Noodles. Come dessert, the homemade Matcha Green Tea with Red Bean ice cream is a no-brainer, as is the Chocolate XiaoLongBao that houses both Nutella and Hershey chocolate. Win-win.

When it comes to design, diners in the capital can expect the same Din Tai Fung atmosphere they have come to know and love. An open-plan dining room is furnished with tables that offer views of the open kitchen where dumplings are ceremoniously pleated and noodles are pulled.

For diners in the capital, the wait is finally over. Din Tai Fung Abu Dhabi is here to stay.
