The rock musical will take over the Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands.
The Lion City’s theatre calendar continues to gain momentum. Following a strong line-up of international productions, Jesus Christ Superstar is heading to the Sands Theatre in Singapore from 19 August to 6 September 2026.
The legendary musical is one of the most influential stage shows of the 20th century. Created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, it first began life as a rock opera concept album before becoming a global stage phenomenon. Now, the Singapore run brings a bold reimagining of the production to the city, offering audiences a chance to experience its powerful music, striking visuals and emotionally charged storytelling.
Set during the final weeks of Jesus Christ’s life, the musical is told largely through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Rather than presenting the story as a traditional biblical retelling, Jesus Christ Superstar explores fame, loyalty, power and betrayal through the energy of rock music. The result is a production that feels both familiar and fiercely theatrical.
This version comes from London’s acclaimed Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre and won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival. Directed by Timothy Sheader, the production features choreography by Drew McOnie, set and costume design by Tom Scutt, lighting design by Lee Curran, sound design by Nick Lidster and music supervision by Tom Deering.

The score remains one of the show’s biggest draws. Audiences can expect songs including “I Don’t Know How to Love Him”, “Gethsemane” and “Superstar”, all performed with the intensity that made the musical a landmark in theatre history. The Guardian called the production “GORGEOUS, THRILLING, HEAVENLY MUSICAL.”
Performances of Jesus Christ Superstar in Singapore will run for approximately 160 minutes, including a 20-minute interval. Showtimes include Tuesday to Thursday at 8pm, Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2.30pm and 8pm, and Sunday at 1.30pm and 6.30pm.
Tickets are priced from S$98 to S$208, with premium box options also available.
