If you’ve ever wondered what it would be like to shrink down and wander through a garden designed by someone with a particularly vivid imagination, Bloomyard might be your answer. The new interactive art installation at Gardens by the Bay has supersized flowers, swings, mini-golf and enough botanical whimsy to make your average garden look rather underdressed.
Housed within the IMBA Theatre, Bloomyard is the work of UK-based artist duo Catherine Borowski and Lee Baker, better known as Graphic Rewilding, and runs until 25 October 2026. Having previously bloomed in Berlin, London, New York and Shanghai, the installation has now arrived in Singapore with a more playful approach to art, encouraging visitors to do more than simply look at the flowers.
Instead, Bloomyard is designed to be explored. Visitors can swing through exuberant oversized blooms, challenge friends to table tennis on flower-shaped tables, or try their luck at the mini-golf course tucked into the garden. It is colourful, playful and, crucially, the sort of exhibition where getting involved is rather more encouraged than standing behind the invisible line.
The fun continues at The Bloomery, a café surrounded by Bloomyard’s “microscopic maximalism” flowers and garden-themed furniture. Coffee, matcha, hot and iced chocolate and other refreshments provide ample incentive to take a break from all that strenuous art appreciation.
And, because no modern-day outing is complete without something to take home, the merchandise stand offers Graphic Rewilding’s botanical prints, while budding creatives can make their own crepe flowers as a souvenir. A considerably more wholesome keepsake than the blurry selfie you took of yourself attempting mini-golf.
