What do hummingbirds, lovestruck doodles, and beans have in common? They are the motifs of the limited-edition collections by luxury brands for the Chinese Valentine’s Day — Qixi.
Long before Valentine’s Day became synonymous with roses, chocolates and candlelit dinners, China had its own celebration of love written in the stars. Held on the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunisolar calendar, Qixi Festival — widely regarded as the Chinese Valentine’s Day — is rooted in the ancient tale of an annual reunion of two star-crossed lovers.
This year, the celebration falls on Wednesday, 19 August 2026. Luxury brands are cashing in with gifting ideas from limited-edition collections that interpret the story’s motifs into coveted clothes and accessories. Below are the collections commemorating the Qixi Festival for 2026.
Balenciaga

For Qixi, Balenciaga is putting a playful, nostalgic spin on the language of love with its QIXI 26 collection. The collection reworks everyday wardrobe staples with romantic graphics that tap into the themes of the cultural event. Key to the collection are a pair of matching t-shirts with handwritten “I♥U” and “I♥U2” script and feathered arrows that align when worn as a couple. Another essential piece is a special-edition Le City Moto Bag in black suede that comes scattered with crystal stars, bows and arrow-pierced hearts reminiscent of lovestruck notebook doodles.
