Opening in May 2026, ASIN brings together seasonality, fermentation and a distinctly modern take on Asian dining.
Set to open at 38 Carpenter Street in May 2026, ASIN positions itself as a refined new address for diners in SIngapore who are seeking something more thoughtful than trend-led theatre.
At its core, ASIN is built around what it calls Progressive Asian Dining, with a philosophy that bridges the North and South of East Asia while staying rooted in fermentation and the rhythm of the seasons. The culinary direction at ASIN is guided by seasonality, nature, and the idea of shi liao, in which food is seen as in harmony with the body and environment. That said, this is not a medicinal dining concept. Instead, it’s about balance through natural cycles, using ingredients at their peak and building harmony through flavour and technique.
ASIN will focus on a tasting menu of progressive Asian cuisine built by Chef Ace Tan. That sense of direction matters, especially when it comes from Tan. At his previous restaurant, Asu, the Singaporean chef built a reputation for exploring Asian food histories, ageing techniques and house-made ferments, while drawing on ideas linked to seasonal eating and traditional Chinese medicinal principles. Reports on his earlier work describe a dining style shaped by research, storytelling and a deeper interest in how Asian cuisines develop over time. If ASIN carries that spirit forward, Singapore’s fine-dining landscape could soon have a compelling new contender on its hands.
There is also a strong partnership behind the project. ASIN brings Tan together with Desmond Heng, founder of Suguru Home Dining, whose business began as a home-based Japanese seafood delivery concept before expanding into restaurant supply and a dine-in presence in Joo Chiat. The collaboration combines Tan’s creative direction with Heng’s strength in sourcing and operations, which shows a solid foundation from day one.
For now, full interior details for ASIN in Singapore remain under wraps, but early indications suggest a modern Asian setting with subtle Chinese touches inspired by the Five Elements framework. That feels fitting for a restaurant built around restraint, balance and intention.
