Helmed by globally acclaimed bartender Uno Jang, Bartenders of Pony pairs Korean heritage with precision-made cocktails.

If you want to understand a new country quickly, don’t start with the museums. Start with where people gather to eat, drink and talk. In Singapore, that point of entry is on Tras Street in Tanjong Pagar, a neighbourhood that comes alive after office hours. Often dubbed Singapore’s unofficial “Korea Town”, the area is lined with concepts that channel Korean culture, and Bartenders of Pony, also known as BOP, deepens the connection with a bar experience grounded in heritage and craft.

Bartenders of Pony is the latest concept from the Jigger & Pony Group, led by Korean-born bartender Uno Jang, a respected name on the global bar circuit. From the outside, the bar keeps a low profile, set within a Southeast Asian shophouse that doesn’t shout for attention. Step inside and the mood shifts. There’s a bar up front, then more pockets to discover as you move deeper into the space, encouraging lingering rather than rushing.

The design takes cues from Korea’s obangsaek colour philosophy, weaving white, black, blue, red and yellow through the interiors. Textured accents, dim lighting, and a soundtrack of vinyl-spun 80s and 90s hits set an easy rhythm in a room built for conversation, whether you arrive with friends or end up making them at the bar.

At the heart of the concept are three Korean ideas: Kki (craft), Jeong (warmth) and Heung (shared energy). That ethos translates into a menu where drinks lead, and food follows. Cocktails are flavour-forward and rooted in Korean ingredients such as makgeolli, nuruk and perilla oil, each used with intent rather than novelty. The kitchen plays a supporting role, sending out plates designed to complement what’s in the glass, including Cucumber and Squid Muchim, Crisp Fried Chicken, Perilla Oil Noodles, and Tuna Gimbap.
