The intimate 18-seat bar on Amoy Street serves storytelling-led cocktails inspired by Prohibition-era secrecy.

Singapore’s bar scene has long had a taste for the hidden and the theatrical. From unmarked doors to omakase counters and nightlife concepts tucked behind restaurants, the city continues to embrace venues that reward curiosity. The latest name to know in Singapore is Blind Tiger, a new speakeasy-style cocktail bar on Amoy Street.

Located at 50 Amoy Street, Blind Tiger sits on the second floor above Smash Street, the casual burger spot known for smashed patties and easygoing dining. Downstairs, the energy is bright, social and food-focused. Upstairs, the mood shifts into something darker, quieter and far more intimate.

With just 18 seats, Blind Tiger leans into the idea of discovery. The compact bar is designed for low-lit conversations, close-range service and drinks that unfold with a sense of theatre. It is the kind of venue that feels removed from the street below, despite being positioned in one of Singapore’s busiest dining neighbourhoods.

Blind Tiger Singapore

The concept takes its name from Prohibition-era “blind tiger” establishments in America, where alcohol was concealed and access often relied on secret signs, coded language or knowing the right people. Rather than recreating the period in a literal way, Blind Tiger uses the era as a creative starting point.

That sense of secrecy runs through the drinks list. Cocktails come with narrative-driven names such as Borderline Smuggler, Midnight Shipment and The Indigo Signal, each hinting at hidden exchanges, bootleg routes and late-night mischief. The result is a cocktail experience that favours atmosphere as much as flavour.

Food will also play a role in the experience. Blind Tiger will serve small plates that nod to the venue below, including smash burger sliders and miniature fried chicken “caviar” sandos. It creates a neat connection between the two floors, giving guests a reason to begin with burgers before heading upstairs for a nightcap.

Blind Tiger arrives at a time when Singapore’s appetite for immersive bars remains strong. With limited seating, a layered backstory and a hidden-away setting, this Amoy Street newcomer is built for those who like their cocktails with character.
