Neil Road welcomes a 26-seat cocktail bar where scent, flavour and storytelling shape the experience.
A new cocktail bar has arrived in the Lion City, and it is inviting guests to follow their senses. Located on Neil Road, Hi Stranger in Singapore introduces an immersive take on the classic cocktail bar, combining inventive drinks, intimate interiors and a playful approach to flavour.
Designed as a culinary playground, Hi Stranger encourages guests to interact with the space and menu in unexpected ways. The 26-seat venue is bathed in amber light, creating a warm, lava-like glow across stainless steel surfaces. At the centre of the room, a suspended stainless-steel installation reflects light and adds drama to the intimate setting.
Guests can pull up a seat at the bar for a closer look at the cocktail-making process, settle into the booth seating, or dine beneath the skylight in the main room. Hi Stranger’s drinks programme invites guests to explore spirits through scent before ordering. Alternatively, they can leave the decision to the bartenders, who create personalised flavour combinations based on individual preferences.

The bar’s first chapter is titled A World Aglow, inspired by the acclaimed documentary Fire of Love, which follows French volcanologists, Katia and Maurice Krafft. That volcanic influence is carried through the drinks, with a focus on smoke, spice and intensity.
The cocktail programme is led by Head Bartender Khalya Khalik, formerly of QT Hotel. Signature serves include The Funky Daiquiri, made with Jamaican rum, lime and chilli, and The Smoky Sour, which layers Scotch and Islay whiskies with citrus and bitters. Lesser-known classics also appear on the menu, including The Alabazam, Preakness Manhattan and the 100-Year-Old Cigar.

The kitchen is overseen by Head Chef Edwin Tay, whose experience includes Rhubarb and the Michelin-starred Nouri. The food menu ranges from small bites such as Pão de Queijo, tuna tartare and prawn toast to larger plates including stir-fried clams with Korean noodles and black wagyu skirt with chimichurri.
Co-Founder of Hi Stranger, Bastien Renard, said: “In a city as vibrant and culturally curious as Singapore, we wanted to contribute something that feels immersive, welcoming, and driven by curiosity. With Hi Stranger, we wanted to build more than just a cocktail destination. We wanted to create a space where people can slow down, connect, and discover something unexpected together – whether that’s through flavour, conversation, or simply the experience of exploring something new.”
