Pokémon celebrates its 30th anniversary with a collection of cameras and accessories in collaboration with Polaroid.
To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Pokémon, the globally renowned video game franchise will be joining forces with Polaroid on a limited-edition camera collection launching on 5 October 2026. This collaboration will span cameras, instant film, and accessories rendered after the motifs and iconic characters from the ever-expanding universe of Pokémon.
Designed for the loyal Pokémon collector and everyone else who shares their joy of the game, the Polaroid x Pokémon collection lets fans turn their favourite memories into tangible keepsakes.
The first of three instant cameras launching in this collection is the Polaroid Now Camera Generation 3, which adopts the unmistakable pattern of a Poké Ball. Two other Polaroid Go Generation 3 cameras inspired by Pikachu and Sylveon round out the camera collection. Other accessories include custom instant film packs with Pokémon-themed frames and dark slides, a protective Polaroid Go case, a matching mini photo album, and a universal camera strap.
According to Mathieu Galante, Licensing Senior Director at The Pokémon Company International, the idea is to turn everyday memories into something you can actually hold onto. “Pokémon has always been about discovery, connection, and exploration. Working with Polaroid feels like a natural extension of these values: encouraging fans to capture moments that matter most to them in their own way.”
Pokémon first debuted on 27 February 1996, and is the brainchild of the Japanese game designer Satoshi Tajiri. The development of the game was attributed to Tajiri’s love for catching insects and small animals in his youth from the surrounding nature of Machida City in Tokyo. Tajiri also once expressed that Pokémon was his attempt to “regain the world he had lost” and that it represents his version of one boy’s perfect summer day.
Pre-orders for the Pokémon x Polaroid Special Edition collection open globally on 25 August 2026 via Polaroid’s official website, as well as, the Pokémon Center in the US, UK and Canada. The full collection launches worldwide on 5 October 2026.
