The Royal Albatross is setting sail with a new lunch experience that takes diners from Marina South Pier to Lazarus Island.

The Royal Albatross, Singapore’s only luxury tall ship, is making a convincing case for a leisurely lunch that doubles as a short getaway. Launched at the end of July, the set lunch experience consists of a three-course menu and an all-day access pass for its guests to tour Singapore’s Southern Islands via speedboat from 10am to 6pm.
Soon to be docked at Marina South Pier, the experience begins with a ferry ride aboard the Royal Albatross across the Singapore Strait to Lazarus Island, where the ship will be anchored and lunch is served. The lunch menu for the ship’s own Albatross Island Restaurant, curated by the winner of MasterChef Singapore — chef Inderpal Singh, features dishes that reflect Singapore’s history as a maritime crossroad and showcase the intersecting flavours from Southeast Asia, China and India.
Expect dishes such as a Hokkaido scallop ceviche starter dressed with Assam ponzu and curry leaf oil, and a 16-hour braised beef short rib rendang served with a jus reduction and bergedil pommes mousseline. A special menu featuring a young coconut and pomelo ceviche, and a lion’s mane mushroom rendang is also available for vegetarians.
Post-meal, diners are invited to embark on adventures aboard speedboats — operated by Albatross Speedboat Adventures — equipped with audio recordings of the islands’ history and ecological significance. The lunch package comes inclusive of an unlimited access speedboat pass for the day, which means guests can explore Singapore’s Lazarus, Kusu, St John’s, and Sisters’ Islands at their own pace on self-guided tours. For others looking to relax at a secluded beach, take a swim in open waters, or enjoy the coastal sea breeze, that choice rests solely on their own wishes.
Measuring 47 metres in length, the Royal Albatross hosts up to 130 guests and first began sailing in Singapore in 2014. Since its operation, the ship has been active in running events such as celebrations and sunset cruises for the past 12 years.
Besides the food and the ship, perhaps it is the freedom to slow down from the fast-paced city that makes sailing with the Royal Albatross a genuine luxury. With no need to rush from one attraction to another, lunch here is meant to stretch deep into the afternoon with scenic views. In short, it is a day trip that takes guests away from it all, without leaving Singapore.
