Singapore’s sports-led mall is set for a major transformation, bringing new wellness concepts and waterfront dining.

Kallang Wave Mall is preparing for its next chapter. From May 2026, the Singapore destination will begin a phased revamp designed to turn it into a more immersive sport, lifestyle and community hub, with works expected to run through 2028. The mall will remain operational throughout the upgrade, although some tenants and facilities will temporarily close, relocate or reopen later as the project progresses.

The biggest talking point is the climbing wall. Already one of the mall’s defining features, it is being reimagined as a 21-metre structure with elements of real rock, making it one of Southeast Asia’s tallest indoor climbing walls. Its highest point will rise around 10 metres above the roofline, offering climbers sweeping views across The Kallang and Kallang Basin. Operated by Climb Central, the upgraded facility will also introduce bouldering walls, broadening its appeal for both first-timers and more experienced climbers.

Elsewhere, the rooftop will welcome a new padel ecosystem with six sheltered, competition-ready courts, while the existing water playground will be replaced by a larger multi-sensory playscape that combines wet and dry zones for children. The wider enhancement plans also include end-of-trip facilities for runners and cyclists, complete with bike parking, showers and storage, making the mall a more practical stop for those using the Stadium Park Connector and Kallang Basin routes.

Wellness is another major focus. ReFormd Group is set to open a new science-backed fitness, recovery and retail concept featuring a gym, personal training, cold plunges and ice baths. Singapore’s running community can also look forward to a New Balance Run Hub, while Key Power Sports will bring in brands such as XTEP, 2XU and Speedo alongside performance-led programming. Pet owners have not been forgotten either, with Mutts & Mittens opening an all-in-one pet community hub that will include grooming, boarding, training facilities, a pet pool, a bakery and retail.

Beyond sport and wellness, the refresh will add upgraded façades, new community spaces, and an expanded dining mix spanning cafés, family-friendly restaurants and bistro-pub concepts by the waterfront. Splash-N-Surf is already closed to make way for the new playscape, which is expected to reopen in the first quarter of 2027, while the Singapore Sports Museum is due to return in the third quarter of 2027 as a refreshed attraction.
