IMBA Theatre brings immersive digital art, international exhibitions, and multi-sensory experiences to Singapore.
Singapore’s arts and culture scene has welcomed a major new attraction called the IMBA Theatre. This large-scale immersive art destination is located at Gardens by the Bay. It is the country’s first dedicated immersive media-based arts venue, bringing together technology, storytelling, and contemporary art in a fully sensory environment.
Recently opened, IMBA Theatre spans over 80,000 square feet, positioning it as one of Singapore’s most ambitious cultural developments to date. Instead of simply viewing artworks, visitors are surrounded by large-scale projections, spatial soundscapes, and narrative-driven environments. The result is a fully immersive experience that blends visual art, sound, and motion into a single unified journey.
IMBA Theatre aims to bridge the gap between art, technology, and entertainment, offering a new way for audiences to engage with global and local creative works. Key features include two purpose-built immersive black-box theatres, a contemporary exhibition gallery, interactive digital installations, and a retail space featuring design-led merchandise alongside lifestyle- and wellness-focused experiences.
The launch season features two headline immersive exhibitions that highlight international artistic excellence. A major highlight is the Fernando Botero exhibition, showcasing the life and works of the Colombian artist known for his distinctive volumetric style. The presentation combines sculptures, paintings, and immersive storytelling to explore his artistic journey.
Another flagship experience is David Hockney: Bigger & Closer, created in collaboration with Lightroom UK. The exhibition follows the six-decade career of British artist David Hockney, using high-resolution projections and narration to immerse visitors in his creative world.
With its immersive exhibitions, world-class collaborations, and cutting-edge technology, IMBA Theatre is set to become one of Singapore’s most talked-about cultural attractions and a key addition to its growing creative landscape.
