For one night only, the prince of Cantopop is bringing his signature love ballads to Esplanade Theatre.

Hong Kong singer William So is returning to Singapore this November, bringing decades of Cantopop hits and Mandarin love songs to the Esplanade Theatre for his SO IN LOVE concert on 8 November 2026.

The announcement is a welcome return for fans who have followed So’s career since the late 1980s. Born in Hong Kong in 1967, So began his musical career after competing in the 1985 New Talent Singing Awards, where he finished as first runner-up to fellow singer Alex To. Since his debut over three decades ago, So’s discography has spanned more than 20 studio albums, as well as live and compilation releases. His early records include Insomnia in 1989, Do Not Leave Me in 1991 and Color of Life in 1993, before a prolific run of releases through the 1990s and 2000s.

Best known for his emotionally charged love songs that have cemented his place in the Cantopop canon, So’s best-known tracks include “Men Shouldn’t Make Women Cry”, “It’s Hard To Love Someone”, and “Kiss More, Sad More.” The latter — which also served as the theme song for popular television drama Healing Hands — was one of the defining songs of his career, earning a raft of Hong Kong music awards in 1998.

Beyond singing, So has also proved himself as a multi-faceted talent, acting in leading roles in Hong Kong film and television. As one-quarter of Big Four, the Hong Kong super band formed with Andy Hui, Dicky Cheung and Edmond Leung, So had previously performed with the group in Singapore as recently as December 2025, when they staged their first concert return after 15 years.

Expect a repertoire built around the romantic ballads for which So is best known, delivered with the seasoned stage presence of a performer who has spent decades turning heartbreak into melodic minutes of polished pop.

The SO IN LOVE concert by William So will take place on 8 November 2026 at the Esplanade Theatre. Tickets start from $88, with public sales beginning on 18 August 2026.
