The next time an acquaintance suggests heading to Your Mother’s House for a drink, don’t take umbrage — they are likely referring to the new bar located at Keong Siak Road. Opened by Shaheera Rahman and Bryan Bonifacio – seasoned bartenders who have previously honed their craft at Employees Only – Your Mother’s House is Singapore’s latest in-demand drinking den.
Taking over the premises of the now-defunct No Sleep Club, Rahman and Bonifacio had one mission: To revamp the previous bar’s industrial-inspired interiors to resemble a living room designed for the warm comforts of house parties. And when discussions with the designers for the overhaul fell through, the duo took it upon themselves to refurbish the space.
One non-negotiable for the duo was removing the traditional back bar from the space. In its place are cabinets, objets d’art, and communal seating arrangements that complement the welcoming spirit of Your Mother’s House.
As first-time business owners, Rahman and Bonifacio found that opening this new bar in an enclave near acclaimed establishments such as Cat Bite Club and Sago House was scary and exciting. To stand out from the other concepts dotting the neighbourhood, the duo ultimately decided to create a menu centred on the familiar instead of the fussy.
Your Mother’s House offers a trim selection of 12 drinks focused on the basics with a twist. That means seasoned drinkers will find riffs on the Margarita, Paloma, and Dirty Vodka Martini when stepping through its doors. Besides offering expertly poured tipples, Your Mother’s House promises to deliver on the one thing that makes a house party so inviting — genuine banter and great company.
