The world’s premier slap-fighting league is set to make its return to the capital.
Back by popular demand, Power Slap – the world’s premier slap fighting league – is set to make its adrenaline-fuelled return to Abu Dhabi on Friday, 24 October. The event will take place at Space 42 Arena as part of Abu Dhabi Showdown Week, culminating in the hotly anticipated UFC® 321.
$VET Power Slap 16: Wolverine vs. Klingbeil presented by Monster Energy, is Power Slap’s sixteenth live event. At the top of the card, reigning light heavyweight champion and fan favourite Wolverine (5-2, 2 KOs) returns to defend his belt for a second time, this time against the surging No.6 contender Alan “The Kryptonian” Klingbeil (3-2, 2 KOs). Wolverine, who successfully retained his crown at Power Slap 13 in June, looks to reaffirm his dominance in the division, while Klingbeil has his sights set on delivering a statement-making upset that could rewrite the light heavyweight hierarchy.
The co-main event sees a clash of titans in the super heavyweight division. Former title challenger Dumpling (2-1-1, 1 KO) is back in action for the first time since losing his championship, determined to remind fans why he once topped the rankings. Standing in his way is the undefeated powerhouse Makini “Big Mak” Manu (4-0, 3 KOs), a rising star with knockout credentials and a reputation for resilience. For Manu, victory over Dumpling would cement his place as the new force to beat.
Following its international debut in the capital last year, Power Slap 9: Dumpling Vs Da Crazy Hawaiian drew a sold-out crowd and ended in a jaw-dropping draw between Super Heavyweight stars Vasilii “Dumpling” Kamotskii and former champion Da Crazy Hawaiian. The event proved a smash hit both live and online, generating over 700 million views across social media.
For those unversed with Power Slap, it’s an American slap-fighting competition that aired on American TV. The contestants would slap each other in the face. However, the show’s success led to it becoming a live event held in Las Vegas.
