Fans can immerse themselves in the wizarding world at Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi.

Potterheads, unite. Muggles, look away. Harry Potter fans have even more magic to look forward to in Abu Dhabi. Warner Bros. World Yas Island has revealed that its upcoming Wizarding World expansion will feature three separate Harry Potter-themed lands, rather than the single area previously announced. And it’s all set to open in 2029.

Miral shared that the new Harry Potter-themed lands are coming to Warner Bros. World Yas Island, spanning approximately 63,000 square meters. Construction is expected to be completed in 2029, which means we’re only years away from stepping into our very own Harry Potter world.

Earlier, the news was teased during a live-streamed Back to Hogwarts Showcase. The short video opened with the enchanted Ford Anglia from the films before the car takes flight, revealing the unmistakable Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi water tower. The clip concludes with the words “Three new themed lands,” showing that a Ford Anglia ride is heading to Abu Dhabi.

The official Harry Potter Instagram account had also shared further details, stating: “It’s official! Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley and the Forbidden Forest are coming to @wbworldyasisland, Abu Dhabi.”

More details are yet to be revealed. However, it has been confirmed that the three lands, Hogwarts Castle, Diagon Alley and the Forbidden Forest, will be recreated on Yas Island. The Harry Potter-themed lands will offer world-exclusive Harry Potter-themed rides, created only for Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, and bring the wizarding world to life through immersive storytelling, innovative design, and engaging experiences.

Located in the world’s largest indoor theme park, Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, this will be the first Harry Potter attraction in the Middle East, and it will be the only Harry Potter attraction in the world to have both Hogwarts Castle and Diagon Alley.

Diagon Alley is expected to feature large, colourful displays integrated into its quirky buildings, much like in the films and books. The street’s design was inspired by Victoria Street in Edinburgh, Scotland. Meanwhile, Hogwarts, Harry Potter’s famous school, is designed as a Gothic, church-like castle drawing inspiration from several historic locations across the UK, such as Alnwick Castle, which was also used as a filming location for the early Harry Potter movies. Elsewhere, in the Forbidden Forest, you can expect to see giant spiders and all the creatures you’d expect to find here.

The character who sleeps in the cupboard under the stairs has become a global phenomenon. Harry Potter spans eight films and is based on the best-selling book series, which has sold over 600 million copies worldwide, has been distributed in more than 200 territories, and has been translated into over 80 languages.

Simon Robinson, President Global Experiences & Studio Operations, Warner Bros. Discovery, said: “The expansion of Warner Bros. World™ Abu Dhabi represents a significant step forward in our commitment to building worldclass destinations anchored in the strength of our storytelling. Introducing three new Harry Potter–themed lands allows us to deepen the connection between our iconic franchises and the guests who cherish them. This development reflects our longterm vision for immersive entertainment experiences that set new benchmarks for the industry, and we look forward to unveiling environments that fans will love for generations to come.”

The project will be the world’s sixth Harry Potter-themed park. The others are in Beijing, China; California and Florida in the US; Leavesden in the United Kingdom; and Osaka in Japan.

The Harry Potter-themed lands will join the six existing immersive worlds at Warner Bros. However, the opening date has not yet been announced.

Sounds like a magical day out.
