Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Foundation launches exciting events

The new season includes music, theatre and family-friendly shows.

If you thought the UAE had no arts and culture, think again. The Cultural Foundation Abu Dhabi, run by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, has launched its latest season. The programme includes world music, theatre and family-friendly events, and it runs from 8 September to 10 December. 

Theatre fans should check out Mayadir on 8 September. The play has been created by Umm Al Quwain National Theatre, written by Ismail Abdullah and directed by Hassan Rajab. The story follows a group of childhood friends who part ways and reunite on a boat trip.

Get into the groove with Buika’s An Evening for the Soul on 16 September. The Grammy Award nominated singer is making her debut in the UAE. The set brings together flamenco, Spanish copla, jazz and soul, and hits from her album Niña de Fuego. 

Moscow City Ballet’s Cinderella – The Bitesize Ballet runs from 20 to 21 October. The production brings to life the original score by Sergei Prokofiev. The Authentic Flamenco by Paula Rodríguez takes place from 3 to 4 November, and includes dancers, singers and musicians.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt Live on Stage runs from 10 to 12 November, and is an adaptation of the picture book by Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury. Crossbones Trombones Ensemble on 17 November showcases classical music, jazz, film and pop. Plus, the season ends with the children’s show Dear Santa on 10 December.

Reem Fadda, Director of Cultural Foundation, explained: “As the Cultural Foundation continues to enrich Abu Dhabi’s cultural scene with remarkable programmes and exhibitions, the last months of this year will feature an array of astounding performances that will surely captivate our audiences, and cater to a variety of interests and ages”.

Look out for special activities throughout Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation’s season. Abu Dhabi Children’s Library will host events focusing on childhood development, reading, writing, arts and crafts.
