Chicago The Musical Coming to Abu Dhabi

The sensational show has gone from Broadway to the West End.  

Abu Dhabi, you’re in for a musical marvel. Chicago The Musical is coming to the capital. Running from 12 to 22 September, it looks set to be a glitz and glam show – and here’s how to get hold of tickets.

Set during the 1920s, Chicago looks at the idea of celebrity criminalsThe story follows two murderers, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, who find themselves in jail together. Roxie is a housewife, and Velma is a vaudevillian performer. The songs include All That Jazz, When You’re Good to Mama, and Mister Cellophane. 

Nicolas Renna, Chief Executive Officer at Proactiv Entertainment, explained: “We are thrilled to bring the classic and timeless production of Chicago to Abu Dhabi. This is one of the most successful and most loved musicals out there. You haven’t experienced Broadway until you’ve seen Chicago!”

David Ian, Crossroads Live, added: “I’m absolutely delighted to be bringing one of the best musicals of all time to Abu Dhabi. With this wonderful cast and orchestra, UAE audiences are in for a real treat.”

In 1975, Chicago was first performed on Broadway, New York. The original score was created with music by John Kander, and the book was created by Bob Fosse and Fred Ebb. The original production ran for two years and debuted in the West End, London, in 1979.

In 2022, Chicago was turned into a film production. Chicago starred Catherine Zeta-Jones, Renee Zellweger and Richard Gere. The film won six Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress.

Tickets to see Chicago The Musical go on sale from 2 May.
