Running until January 30, this event transforms Abu Dhabi’s breathtaking natural scenery into a mesmerizing canvas of light that is sure to captivate all who witness it.
Manar Abu Dhabi, aptly named after the Arabic word for “lighthouse,” is a shining beacon of culture and creativity, presented by Public Art Abu Dhabi. This initiative aims to bring art into the public sphere, inviting people to connect with beautiful artworks and the transformative power of light.
Under the theme Grounding Light, this inaugural edition offers an immersive, multi-sensory experience that celebrates the capital’s natural beauty in a whole new light. The artworks are dispersed across key locations throughout Abu Dhabi, including Al Samaliyah, Fahid Islands, Jubail, Lulu Island, Saadiyat Island, and coastal areas like Corniche Road and the Eastern mangroves.
Manar Abu Dhabi features over 35 site-specific artworks created by both local and international artists. These artists hail from countries such as Argentina, France, Japan, India, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, and their works cover a diverse array of mediums. From light projections and sculptures to installations and performances, this global artistic collaboration is set to stimulate the senses.
In addition to the stunning artworks, Manar Abu Dhabi also features a robust public program of talks, workshops, and art performances. This ensures that the art on display isn’t just visual but also an interactive and thought-provoking experience.
