The European Film Festival celebrates cinema, culture and collaboration.
There’s always something happening in Abu Dhabi. While local talent and culture remain at the centre of the capital’s creative scene, it also knows how to embrace the world. This time, Abu Dhabi is marking the return of the celebrated European Film Festival. Back for its third edition, the celebration of cinema will take place from 18 to 24 May 2026 at the Cultural Foundation in Abu Dhabi. And for the first time, it’s heading over to Ras Al Khaimah too from 1 to 5 June 2026.
Organised by the European Union Delegation to the UAE, in collaboration with the Cultural Foundation, this celebration of cinema aims to bridge cultures, foster dialogue, and showcase diverse perspectives. 16 films from across the continent will be screened, spotlighting cinematic gems from France, Germany, Austria, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Poland, and more.
Expect dramas, historical adventures, comedies, and much more. Some of the films to look out for include Gloria from Italy, Close Your Eyes from Spain, The Queen and the Smokehouse from Poland, and Stelios from Greece.
The festival will also feature an Emirati short film program, featuring films like Oug, Guardians of the Mountains, Namoos, and Unsaid.
This year will also mark the first time the European Film Festival will expand to Ras Al Khaimah. In collaboration with Ras Al Khaimah Art, the initiative aims to broaden cultural access and bring European cinema to new audiences across the emirate.
Tickets to the European Film Festival screenings start from AED 25 per film. So, whether you’re a cinephile or a budding filmmaker, this festival promises to entertain, educate, and inspire.
