The legendary rock band will take the stage at Etihad Arena in October.
Iconic rock bands have come and gone, but 60 years since its inception, the Scorpions are still going strong. In fact, the legendary band is embarking on its Coming Home — 60 Years of Scorpions world tour in 2025, with a pit stop in Abu Dhabi confirmed for 21 October at Etihad Arena. Brought to the capital by Live Nation Middle East, Scorpions is famed for electrifying performances and timeless melodies, so a rock spectacle is essentially guaranteed.
Formed in Hanover back in 1965, the band has long been a disruptor in hard rock and heavy metal, distinguished by influential lyrics that reflected the remarkable developments in Germany during that time. Their success has been marked by several chart-topping hits, achieving over 120 million records sold and surpassing one billion views on YouTube for the single Wind of Change. The band’s enduring legacy is not only measured by numbers, but also its ability to reinvent and stay relevant across decades. And while the band has seen many different line-ups of rock and metal legends, some of its early members still perform to this day.
The Scorpions members performing in Abu Dhabi include Rudolf Schenker (founder, lead guitarist, and primary songwriter), Klaus Meine (the lead singer, who joined in 1970), and Matthias Jabs, who plays rhythm guitar and provides backing vocals. Other members who have also joined the group in recent years include bassist Paweł Mąciwoda and drummer Mikkey Dee. Incidentally, the upcoming tour will mark the 41st anniversary of the classic Love at First Sting album. Released in 1984, it features some of the band’s most successful songs and combines elements of heavy metal, hard rock, and glam metal.
To celebrate this iconic album, Scorpions will set the stage ablaze with a whole host of smash hits, including Big City Nights, Still Loving You, and more. Tickets to see Scorpions live in Abu Dhabi will go on pre-sale on Friday, 11 July at 12pm, with the general sale following on Monday, 14 July via the Live Nation website.
