Singing superstars Tom Jones and John Legend join Saadiyat Nights

Abu Dhabi is hitting the high notes. Saadiyat Nights has announced that the singing superstars Tom Jones and John Legend will be heading to Abu Dhabi. Tom Jones is scheduled to perform on 1 March, and John Legend will perform on 2 March.

Saadiyat Nights is an open-air musical event, which takes place on Saadiyat Island. The upcoming events also include Iranian singer Googoosh on 20 January, opera singer Andrea Bocelli on 27 January, and British singer Sting on 3 February. Plus, it kicked on in spectacular style with Mariah Carey.

John was born in Ohio, United States, he was a whizz at school and skipped two grades. He was even offered a place at Harvard University, which he turned down. The singer swapped books for beats. He went on to carve out a successful career spanning two decades. He is unique in being an EGOT winner, as he has won all the major entertainment awards – the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony awards. He is no stranger to the Middle East. He has performed before at the UAE’s Emirates Jazz Fest in 2018, and a successful show in Coca-Cola Arena Dubai in 2020. He is expected to perform songs from his new and old records, which show off his soulful voice, keys and lyrics. All of Me, Used To Love U and Ordinary People are just some of the hits we hope he performs in the capital.

Tom hails from Treforest, Wales. He first started performing with the Welsh group, Tommy Scott and the Senators. In 1965, he released his first album, Along Came Jones. His hit songs include Delilah, Kiss, It’s Not Unusual, She’s a Lady and What’s New Pussycat? Over his career, he has sold more than 100 million records and performed with stars including Cerys Matthews, Robbie Williams and Stereophonics.
