The Persian favourite has arrived at The House in Al Bateen, serving an exclusive dessert to the capital.

Berenjak is officially opening in Abu Dhabi, bringing one of London’s most talked-about Persian restaurants to the capital. A FACT award winner in Dubai, London and Sharjah, the new restaurant has opened inside The House, a standalone villa in Al Bateen, marking the brand’s third UAE location.

Set across two floors, Berenjak Abu Dhabi has been designed to feel intimate and rooted in Persian heritage. Inside, guests will find dark oak seating, aged brass tabletops, and timber-veneer ceilings, finished with Elodie chandeliers and hand-painted details. At the centre of the experience is the open kitchen, where diners can watch the chefs at work and catch a live view of the mangal, flanked by a four-seat chef’s table set on mosaic tiles.

The design continues upstairs, where soft cream drapery, natural light and a Qajar royal portrait lead into several private dining spaces. The private dining room seats up to 16 guests and overlooks the garden.

Berenjak takes its name from a whimsical source — the brightly coloured, toasted rice eaten as a snack at funfairs in Persia. The dining experience offers a modern reinterpretation of the classic hole-in-the-wall eateries found in Tehran, uplifting the cuisine and ambience while inviting diners to explore Iran’s rich cultural history.

The menu celebrates the depth of Persian cuisine, drawing on family recipes and time-honoured cooking traditions. Signature dishes include hummus made with black chickpeas and sunflower seed tahini, Kashk-e Bademjoon with charred aubergine, garlic, onions, kashk, mint oil and walnuts, and the much-loved Koobideh Kabab, made with ground lamb, onion and black pepper before being grilled over the mangal.

Highlights include Jujeh Kabab, Berenjak’s take on Iran’s classic chicken kabab, and Ghormeh Sabzi, the deeply aromatic herb stew made with parsley, coriander, dried limes, kidney beans and slow-cooked lamb. Abu Dhabi diners can also try an exclusive Persian Tea Ice Cream dessert, featuring a chai-flavoured soft serve.
