Catch Barbie pop-ups in Abu Dhabi’s BYOU Beauty Salon and L’Arc Café

Enter a Barbie world at these positively pink places.

Barbie fever is sweeping the world. Following the release of the film, the UAE has been turning pink. In Abu Dhabi, BYOU Beauty Salon and L’Arc Café have got into the spirit. So, if you want to enter a Barbie world, here’s what you need to know.

BYOU Beauty Salon is offering Barbie-inspired hairstyles, manicures, pedicures and more. On the outside of the door, it even says: “If you love Barbie, this salon is for you”. Plus, there is a pink toy box where you can show off your new look and get your Insta on.

L’Arc Café has opened a positively pink pop-up. Take your pick from pink chairs, sofas and tables. The fun features include Barbie merchandise, disco balls and flamingo decorations. Lookout for the wardrobe with bags, pearls and shoes. Plus, there are Barbie-inspired drinks and desserts.

Barbie arrived fashionably late to the UAE. Directed and co-written by Greta Gerwig, the cast includes Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, America Ferrera, Kate McKinnon, Issa Rae, Helen Mirren and Will Ferrell. The concept is inspired by Mattel’s Barbie dolls and is the first live-action film based on the toy. The story follows Barbie as she has an existential crisis – she goes from a matriarchal society to the real world (aka the patriarchy).

Barbie has already become one of the highest-grossing films of 2023. The film has made $1.203 billion at the box office so far.

BYOU Beauty Salon is open daily from 11am to 9pm. L’Arc Café is open daily from 8am to midnight.
