Record breaking SeaWorld Abu Dhabi will open on 23 May

Visitors can experience the thrilling new realms, rides and restaurants.

The UAE loves a megaproject, especially a family-friendly one. SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, a marine life theme park on Yas Island, has been one of the most hotly anticipated sights. Now, it has confirmed that it is opening on 23 May, here’s what to expect from the realms, rides and restaurants.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi tells a One Ocean story, which showcases the interconnectivity between life on earth and the ocean. The park spans 183,000 square meters and eight themed realms, which feature up-close animal encounters, entertainment, rides, plus dining and shopping experiences.

In true UAE-style, the attraction plans to break world records and be home to the world’s largest aquarium. The aquarium will house 25 million litres of water and more than 68,000 marine animals, which range from sharks to sea turtles. Plus, it will be the first SeaWorld to be developed without orcas – that’s killer whales.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi also includes Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center – the country’s first dedicated marine research, rescue and rehabilitation centre. The centre focuses on indigenous marine life in the Gulf, and it includes facilities to support regional as well as global conservation.

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s realms

SeaWorld Abu Dhabi’s begins in the Abu Dhabi Ocean realm, where guests will learn about the Arabian Gulf and the UAE’s tradition of pearl diving. The realm includes the Arabic restaurant Matbakh Ummi, and souk paying homage to the capital.

The Polar Ocean realm takes visitors to Antarctica and the Polar Ocean. The area depicts life in the North Pole, from the walruses to state-of-the-art habitats. The realm includes immersive rides, restaurants and retail outlets.

The MicroOcean realm plays with visitors’ perceptions, as they get swept up by the tides and shrink to the size of plankton. The realm highlights the role of small marine life. Plus, it is home to family-friendly rides, a play area for the kids and characters as well as performers.

The Endless Ocean realm boasts that record-breaking aquarium. The aquarium is home to animals including eels, rays and sharks. Plus, it includes a fine dining restaurant with Insta-worthy views of the aquarium.

The Tropical Ocean realm includes a UAE-favourite – dancing waterfalls, anyone? The realm brings together dolphins, flamingos and tropical birds. Adventure seekers will love the rollercoaster ride and restaurant above and below water, which we recommend visiting post-ride.

Finally, the Rocky Point realm features hidden coves, and the rare opportunity to interact with sea lions and a boardwalk-inspired snack stand.
