South African restaurant Flamingo Room by tashas hits Abu Dhabi

Located in The Galleria Al Maryah Island, it is by the same team behind tashas and the FACT Award-winning Galaxy Bar.

Restaurateur Natasha Sideris has a loyal following in the UAE. She is behind the popular café tashas, and fine dining restaurant Flamingo Room by tashas. While Flamingo Room by tashas can already be found in Dubai and Riyadh, it has now opened in Abu Dhabi. So, if you want to sample flavours inspired by her South African home, here’s what you need to know.

Located in The Galleria Al Maryah Island, the new venue has three concepts under one roof. The areas include an elevated dining experience at Flamingo Room by tashas, Afro-fusion bites and sweets at African Lounge, and a luxury retail space at Collective Africa. At the store, guests can browse a curated range of clothing, homeware, jewellery and perfumes, which have been sourced from around the world.

At Flamingo Room by tashas, the team aim to take you on a journey through Africa. If previous Flamingo Room by tashas are anything to go by, Abu Dhabi is in for a treat. The décor includes the brand’s signature blush pink walls and jungle chic interiors. The chefs have created a menu that brings together exciting seafood and meat dishes. The highlights include the Calamari Mozambique, Lobster Linguine and Mushroom Open Lasagne.

Today, there are 15 tashas cafés in South Africa and five in the UAE. Natasha is also behind Avil by tashas, and Le Parc by tashas. She worked with Krystian Hordejuk to create Galaxy Bar in DIFC, Dubai, which has been featured on the World’s 50 Best Bars 2023.
