Could this mean the new Marvel movie is being shot in the island nation?

Bahrain is having a blockbuster moment. The small island nation has found itself in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as rumours swirl that parts of the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday are being filmed in the Kingdom. And with several cast members recently spotted in town, the speculation is gaining serious traction.

Photos have emerged online showing directors Anthony and Joe Russo, known for their work on Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame, enjoying their time in Bahrain. Joining them were stars Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) and Anthony Mackie (the new Captain America), along with Black Panther actors Letitia Wright (Shuri) and Winston Duke (M’Baku), as well as Danny Ramirez, who is set to reprise his role as Joaquin Torres, aka the Falcon.

The cast was seen soaking up the hospitality at Address Beach Resort Bahrain and dining at the upscale Japanese eatery Sumosan. Naturally, fans went into a frenzy, posting and reposting the sightings across social media platforms, asking the all-important question: Is Marvel’s next movie being shot here?

Fuel was added to the fire when His Highness Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, a prominent figure in the Bahraini Royal Family, shared a cryptic Instagram post. Clutching Captain America’s shield and Thor’s hammer, he captioned it: “We all are waiting for the Avengers Doomsday. Might be a couple of surprises in it.” Cue wild fan theories, including if the royal is making a cameo.

Bahraini media outlet Lovin Bahrain further confirmed the buzz by posting a now-deleted image in which His Highness reportedly stated: “It is true! The Avengers Doomsday is shooting a major part of the film in Bahrain. Was great to have the superstars pass by the Kingdom to act their roles and get to enjoy our beautiful island too. As Bahrain shapes a new era where sports, culture, tourism, and entertainment converge, its vision is clear.”

Avengers: Doomsday is part of Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is slated for a December 2026 release. Whether Bahrain plays a small or significant role in the film, one thing’s for sure: the Kingdom is now firmly on the Marvel map.
